Mama's Happy

It's wedding weekend for the "G" family.

Dream Boy & I rented a "cottage" for the weekend and are surrounded by boys - once again.

I sit here in the quiet morning and can hear the stirrings upstairs, and the laughter of S2. The memories are flooding back.
circa 1999

And today - even more of "the boys" will be filling the house, including S1.

This mama's heart is full. Full to overflowing. I'm beyond blessed to have been given the privilege to raise these 2 wonders. God has led their hearts and lives in directions that are amazing to me.

The blessing of 2 beautiful girls being added to our family is beyond my wildest dreams. They are both so compassionate, loving and have added to our family in ways that I could have only hoped and imagined. It is truly evident in how they look at my boys, how they are so relaxed in our lives, that God had them in mind for our family from the day they were born.

So tomorrow, as I walk down the aisle with S2, holding tight to his arm because I can't see through my tears (which, by the way, are flowing now), I will be praising God for the life He has given me.

I am one blessed mama and am forever mindful of the God who created this, my life, and all that is in it.

Monday Morning Coffee

Good morning to ya all!

Happy Memorial Day - and may I add, a HUGE thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the vets who have fought to preserve our right of freedom. I am so grateful for the many who have put themselves out there to defend what no other country has been able to match. I am very proud to be an American and very thankful for our military!

God bless America!!

What have you been doing this holiday weekend? It's the kick off of summer - and the weather here has been fairly typical for this time of year.
We started out weekend out at the campground with good friends for a burger fry.

Dream Boy & I camped when the kids were little, it was the one way we could afford vacations. But now, our version of camping, is visiting friends who camp and going home to sleep in our own bed.

But the food when camping, is ALWAYS good and the time spent around a campfire is always filled with laughter and more food!

Saturday my maid finally showed up and cleaned up the house. Dang, I sure wish Dream Boy would fire her -- but he keeps her around and so I guess she's obligated to actually clean once in a blue moon.
When I finished with my maid-ly duties, I headed off to the nail salon for a little whittling on the footsies.  Yes, it's been a long hard winter and the poor guy had to pull out the cheese grater!  But they are so soft & pretty now & ready for a weddin'!

Yup ~~ it's wedding week in the House of G. T-minus 6 and counting!  S2 & D2B2 come in late Wednesday night & we head up to Dutch Country on Thursday morning.

Needless to say - my creative corner is a hot mess. I really need to clean it off this morning before I can get started on my list of "to do's" for the big "I do's" coming up.

But the festivities are not only in my creative corner, but are spilling over onto the family room beds and the kitchen table. Dream Boy & I are contemplating renting a U-Haul to get it all up to the destination!

So with that said - I should be getting busy! The list is NOT getting any shorter, by any means.

May you all have a glorious week & if you are in the US, Happy Memorial Day!  Be sure to thank a vet for the freedom you have to live your life!

Monday Morning Coffee

Good morning everyone.

Well, the House of G is in countdown mode!

FIVE days left for my high school seniors - this week is gonna be a crazy one, always is!

TWELVE days until my baby boy, S2, get married!

TWENTY TWO days until school is out for the summer.

So this past weekend, we headed up to the Dutch Country (Holland), to check out the weekend homestead,  otherwise known as "Groom Central Station".

Goosebumps I tell ya, goosebumps!  We took our friends who are going to serve our rehearsal dinner, up with us so they could scope out the lay of the land as well.  ALL of us were amazed, excited, couldn't stop talking, the ideas kept flowing kind of excited, when we walked into the house.

The owner met us & she shared in our excitement as well!  She had ideas of where to hang this and how to set that and who should serve what.  She is right in on the plan too!

This house is amazing = Dream Boy & I have a master suite, there is another room for S&D1, a 3rd bedroom for the groom and his entourage & a 4th bedroom for overflow guests!  Plus a pull out sofa and THREE full bathrooms.

Let me tell ya, living in a house with one bathroom for the past 21ish years, this girl is beyond excited to have a "master suite w/ bathroom" for 5 days!

It's the little things.

We also did our taste test with the servants, ahem - friends, to make sure the brisket and pulled pork that S2 requested stood up to our standards.

We were not disappointed.

Then it was off to downtown for some shopping for wedding bling.  This girl found her wedding shoes, earrings & bracelets.  I'm going to be a sparkling diva!

Sunday afternoon we headed out for Dream Boy & complete his wedding ensemble as well.

Dude - I got chills when he got all dressed up.  Love that after almost 35 years of marriage, I still get shivers around him.

Today, I'm back at school, ready to face whatever comes of this week.  After the last couple of weeks - I'm ready for anything.

Have a GREAT week everyone and as always, thank you so much for stopping by!

Monday Morning Coffee

Well, good morning everyone!

I hope all is well with you & you had a great weekend?

As always, mine was not without excitement! Friday night was a chill night, and Saturday started out quiet & unrushed.  Just the way I like.

Saturday night I was the photographer for our high school prom.  I brought 2 of my friends with me to help.  They loved it because they both work in the district as well.  One works in the primary and the other in our middle school - so they were excited to see the kids as they haven't seen them pretty much since they were in their buildings.

Our local paper was running a "contest" all week - the school to receive the most votes would have a photographer from the Gazette there shooting all night!  We won & yes, he was there.  He captured some amazing shots, but this one wasn't - if I say so myself - not his best....
Who is that mad woman???  Ugh, he could have at least gotten my good side!

Oh wait ----- he did -----

True colors shining here!

So, that's what I did on Saturday night.

Sunday - Mother's Day.  Can I just say that I have the most amazing family? My boys, near & far, know how to make their mama feel loved.  Dream Boy & I went to church & picked up his mom afterwards & met S&D1 for brunch.  We had a wonderful meal and time together.

S&D2 had sent me a beautiful card & called me later in the day. Love them both - and so excited as their wedding is quickly approaching - 20 days!  Lots to do. I best get busy!

I missed having my mom around though.  At the end of church, our pastor, who's parents also go to our church, chose the closing hymn because it is his mom's all time favorite.

How Great Thou Art.

I love this song - but can never make it all the way through without crying. Seriously. And yesterday was no different. The tears started flowing & I had to pull out the tissues to mop up my mess & try to recover before the end of the song so no one would see what a mess I had become.

So today I'm back at school with only 20 school days left. The days have just flown by since returning from the senior trip. It always does, so I don't know why I'm so surprised.

I hope you all have an amazing day & a memorable week!

Take care & thank you for having coffee with me this morning!

Monday Morning Coffee

I feel the earth ~ move ~ under my feet!

Yeah - livin in the Mitten is never dull.  We actually had a 4.2 earthquake on Saturday!

So weird.

There was a loud sound, like an explosion or thunder.  My 1st reaction was that the truck I heard coming up the street went crazy & hit my house & that was the reason it was shaking.

But LtWD came running from the kitchen and parked her hiney right next to me as papers were falling off my counter and dishes were falling our of the cupboards.

While it lasted for a very short time, including the small after shock, I couldn't help but think of the people of Nepal and the earthquake they suffered through that was magnitude's more than what we felt.

So that was my excitement for the weekend!  Dream Boy never felt it as he was out riding his bike.

Friday night we headed into town for Art Hop.  We visited our absolute favorite place - the MRC - which is a small art studio for adult with special needs.  We have a few pieces of "art" from their that we treasure dearly & we were not disappointed this time either.  We actually bought a frame that was painted & decorated with wine corks & beach glass that was made by a girl that goes to our church.  Dream Boy took a pic of it & showed her on Sunday and she was so excited to see what had happened with her art work!

Saturday I tried to focus & work on editing & catching up on emails and such with my photography business, but the sun was shining & I couldn't resist, I had to sit outside on the patio & read & take advantage of the beautiful sunny spring day!  Needless to say, not much photography business was accomplished.

S&D1 came over after dinner and we enjoyed the evening sitting around the bonfire out back.  It was just a gorgeous day all the way around!
Sunday was a beautiful day as well, but I was stuck inside with a bad sinus headache that was bordering on becoming a migraine.  That doesn't happen too often for me - but I was not productive in any way other than finishing a book I had been reading.

Today - Monday - is the start of a new week with lots of stuff to keep me busy. So, I best get at it.

Thank you for sharing your coffee with me today! Have a beautiful week wherever you may be!
