Monday Morning Coffee

What a beautiful weekend!

When it finally decided to clear off on Saturday - it became one of those enviable fall days that you just want to bottle up & hold onto & release when in the dead of winter, the winds & whiteness are blinding you.

So thankful that I was feeling better than I had been for most of the week.  The cold I came down with last week, kept me home from school for 2 days & it was a rough day when I went back.  My principal kept checking in on me to make sure I was going to make it.

I was never so thankful to receive a 2 hour delay due to fog on Thursday morning.  Ah, the bliss of extra sleep.  So grateful that I'm able to fall back to sleep and not be one of those that once they are up - they are up!

Our weekend was filled with dining out & enjoying a movie.  We spent Saturday afternoon sitting in the glorious son watching our friends son play college soccer.  It was splendid having the sun shine so brightly & being able to sit and enjoy it!

Sunday morning we spent at church, coming straight home to catch a new picture of Dream Boy, me & Libbi The Wonder Dog.  She wouldn't sit without the ever present soccer ball.

I'm beginning to do a little Christmas shopping & working on some gifts as well. I'm also exploring the possibility of opening an Etsy shop.  Thoughts anyone??

This week is only a 4 day school week for me, as the teaching staff has a Professional Development day on Friday.  Kind of nice having the day off - especially Halloween because even though they are high schoolers, they are all hyped up on the holiday as if they were still in pre-school.  Gotta love 'em, right?

Well, I'm off to coffee now with my ladies.  I missed it last week and am looking forward to our time together today.

Have a very blessed week everyone.

Monday Morning Coffee

Good morning everyone.

Well here we are again - the beginning of another work week. Did you enjoy your weekend?
You know that cold I had at the beginning of the school year?  I managed to hold it off and it didn't get too bad, but I woke up Sunday morning with a full blown head cold.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised with all the crud floating around school.

Our weekend started out with rain ------ which was after a week of rain. Dream Boy & I stood in the rain while watching our youngest niece perform in her high school marching band on Friday night.  We got there early & sat in the car until we heard the halftime buzzer, then we ran into the stadium, found my older sister & hubby standing by the fence & huddled under an umbrella to watch her march!  They have an awesome band and it is fun to listen to them.

Saturday morning we were up extra early & headed up to Grand Rapids with friends from church for a fundraising walk. It didn't rain, but it sure was cold. But we had a great time with everyone and were so glad to be a part of this worthy cause.

We did a little Christmas shopping while in GR, and then headed home where I huddled in to finish up a couple photo sessions, as I had another one scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

Sunday was absolutely beautiful, a little chilly, but the sun was shining and the fall colors were at their peek color.
I've been carrying Lucy around with me most of the week because the colors were changing more & more every day.  So after school I'd head out on some of the back roads to capture some of this beauty.

I had a family photo shoot on Sunday afternoon & they were all about playing & having fun ------ makes the time go so quick & always makes me happy when my clients are willing to step outside of the "norm".
The 2 little one's are priceless.  The one is trying to figure out what kind of family he's been born into and the other is trying to make a break for it while he can!  Too cute!

Dream Boy requested Beef Stroganoff for dinner on Sunday night & I didn't argue.  I put it into the crock pot when we got home from church and the house smelled amazing by the time I got back from my photo shoot.

S&D1 joined us for dinner, but before we ate, I bribed charmed S1 with an amber colored bubbly drink and took a couple shots of his beautiful family.
I so love them.............

...and these 2 recently had their engagement session done and they shared the pics with me & Dream Boy.

I miss them so - can't wait for Christmas when I get to see them next.

It's time for me to wrap this up & get on with my day.  Thank you so much for stopping by & sharing some of your morning with me.

Small Town - Songography

I have not participated in Kathy's Songography in!  But I'm gonna give it a whirl this week.

Small Town - John Mellencamp

The town I was born in was small - back in the day.  But now it's not so small.

But Dream Boy & I moved 20 something years ago to a small town.  To raise our small family.

I wouldn't trade it for the world.
"But I've seen it all in a small town"
"Had myself a ball in a small town"
 "my job is so small town
there's little opportunity"
 "and I can breathe in a small town,
Gonna die in this small town,
And that's probably where they'll bury me"

Less than a mile in any direction I'm able to find a lake, a pond, a stream or river.  The beauty & peace that surrounds me every day is why I love my small time life.

Thanks for letting me join you again Kathy!

Monday Morning Coffee

Good morning everyone.

Today's coffee time is brought to you by the beauty of my corner of the world........

This is Pure Michigan~~
A lake at sunset with the glassy waters shimmering like a mirror.  The reflection of the trees, heavily laden with their colors of gold, orange and red.
The clouds reflecting the pinks & golden tones of the setting sun.  Making them almost think you were looking at snowcapped mountains.
The beauty of the earth that only God can paint.

This time of year in Michigan is absolutely stunning.  It never gets old to me, nor does it ever cease to amaze me the splendor in the beauty of the trees as they show off more and more each & every day, there coats of autumn.

Dream Boy and I spent our weekend together doing this & that.  Going out for pizza & beer/wine on Friday night.  Saturday morning found me at a local winery taking senior pictures and then heading up to Grand Rapids with Dream Boy.

We took the back roads & I actually slept most of the way there.  Crazy, I know. The day was beautiful, but the warmth of the sun beating through the windows was just too powerful and I easily slipped into a peaceful nap.

We went to watch our friend's son play college soccer, and then we did some shopping.  Christmas shopping was actually done!  Not much, but a little.

I managed to stay awake the whole way home.  It was approaching that golden hour and let me just say the magic that time of night has on the colors surrounding us is amazing this time of year.

After church on Sunday I came home to edit some more pics, including these~~~well, actually I took these on Thursday & edited them then, but haven't had a chance to share them with you.
This is Addison - my newest grand-niece.  She was born Wednesday morning & I went up to meet her after school on Thursday.  I made her the little headband Wednesday night & it fit her perfectly.  She woke in time for some of her photo session & was wide awake!

What a little cutie patootie.

But now it's time for me to head back to school.  To enrich the lives & minds of those who are our future~~~or something like that!

Thanks for stopping by & sharing coffee with me.  It's always a pleasure to spend time with you.

What Up Wednesday?

With this fall weather, I have enjoyed cooking some of our favorite comfort foods.  Beef stew - chicken noodle soup - Dutch apple pie - meat loaf - mashed potatoes.  My kitchen hasn't smelled this yummy in a long time.
I've also been busy making headbands for our church for the craft/rummage sale they had this past weekend.  My niece saw this & requested some in her college's school colors~~~~
I made a couple up for her & Dream Boy & I delivered them & took her out for dinner while at it.
Dani's request led to more requests from other friends for headbands in their school colors~~~~
I've also been creating more signs~~~

~~~and I have orders for more, and requests to use my creative mind & create other signs with specified quotes.
On top of all calendar is filling up quickly with senior sessions. You can tell deadliness are approaching because the calls are coming in.  I'm putting the final touches on Eric's session tonite....
This afternoon I have a first ever - a photo shoot with a Golden Retriever, Holly. I can't wait - how much fun!
So this girl has been a little busy- to say the least.  But I'm loving it.  Through all of this I'm ever grateful for the creative mind that God has blessed me with. I never forget that it by His hands I am able to do what I do.
Monday Morning Coffee
Good morning!
Well, I believe fall has officially arrived in the Mitten.  Temps tumbled greatly this past weekend, forcing us to have to turn the furnace on!  But when it's barely 40 degrees outside, it's a little chilly willy inside.
Dream Boy was on vacation all last week and accomplished quite a bit.  He dropped 3 trees, cut & split the wood.  We have quite the stockpile for the upcoming winter.
We headed downtown on Friday night for Art Hop.  It's always so much fun to explore the streets of our town.  The local shops open their doors to local artisans of all types who display their work in the shops.  We found quite a few different photographers on display this time, so we explored the different works & techniques of them.
Saturday was wet & cold, so my morning senior shoot got postponed for a week.  I took advantage of the time and made a beef stew from scratch, putting it in the crock pot to simmer all day.  Oh my - the smell was heavenly.
We took off in the afternoon to a little local apple orchard to pick up apples.  But found when we got there that we had to PICK the apples ourselves.
So we did....
The trees were laden with fruit.  There is nothing that tastes better, than picking the apple right from the tree & taking a big bite out of them.  My favorite fresh apple is the golden delicious and they didn't disappoint me this year.  Oh they are so sweet!
S&D1 joined us for dinner later that night and we all snuggled in to watch a movie together.  It was pouting again outside, so it was the best thing to do on a cold, rainy night.  D1 brought over dessert too - chocolate oreo brownies. Yum.
Sunday we started off in church and then out for breakfast.  Coming home, it was once again a chilly, overcast day and the couch was calling my name.  So I listened and took a wonderful Sunday afternoon nap on it.
Dream Boy & I then fixed dinner together and took it of to my mother-in-law's to share.  One of his brother's was also there with his girlfriend, so we all ate together.  We had a wonderful visit and it was really nice to share a meal with them all.
This week the temps will continue to stay cool, so I am very certain that fall is here to stay.  The colors are turning more & more every day, and with the cold, wet snap we had this weekend, I'm thinking this weekend will be peak colors.  I am hoping the weather is decent so I can get out and explore & hopefully capture some of the beauty that surrounds us this time of year.
For now though, I'm back off to the classroom after my Monday morning breakfast with the girls.
I hope you all have a great week!
See you soon....
