Monday Morning Coffee

Hi everyone!
It's Monday already - can you believe it?
Hard to think that one week ago my Monday morning was sitting on a charter bus somewhere in Tennessee.
Soooooooooo glad to be home.  This last trip kicked my butt!  It's taken me most of this week to recover!
So what did you do this weekend?
1.  Me - slept.
2.  Dream Boy made me a scrumptious breakfast Saturday morning.
3.  I edited pictures and more pictures.
4.  I still have LOTS of pictures to edit.
5.  I love taking the photos - don't like the editing so much.
6.  I don't hate it, but I'm not a big fan of it either!
7.  Only 6 more Monday's of school!
8.  Wow.
9.  Sunday I sat out on my patio and read.
10.  I finished my book "Still Alice".
11.  I'm still pondering how I feel about it - lots to digest, hits close to home.
12.  BUT I am glad I read it.....very informative.
13.  I also painted frames yesterday for my budoir.
14.  I have an idea in my head for the brown wall.
15.  I have prom this weekend - but even though I'm in charge, I won't be there.
16.  Son #2 is graduating from college this coming weekend!  He's the first in either mine or Dream Boy's family to graduate from a 4 Year College.
17.  So proud of him and Son #1 - they amaze me.
18.  Oh - I baked banana bread on Saturday, having some for breakfast today.
Well, I'm off to school - things to do, places to go, people to see.
How was your weekend?  I'd love to hear....please share your happy thoughts with me!

There are no Scavenger Hunt Shots this week.  They were carried over from last week due to a death in Ashley's family last weekend.
If you missed my post you can scroll down or click here to see my shots!
Instead,  I'm going to share a few shots of Libbi the Wonder Dog's play date yesterday:
 This is Roo!
She's 7 weeks old and a family friend's new baby girl
Sami wanted a dog "just like Libbi"..........heaven help us!
Roo pooped out on us right in the middle of the living room floor - she had so much fun.  Quite sassy too, didn't take any of Libbi's attitude.
I love puppies - don't you?

Libbi the Wonder Dog - Unleashed

I borrowed a "Flip" camera from school - working on a project for my senior trip'ers.
I took this little video the other night of LtWD - this is the unedited version of my crazy,  girl gone wild pooch!

Today she might get to meet a "mini me" - I'll be sure to take pics if this meeting occurs.
It's a rainy, blustery day here today.  I have banana bread in the oven baking & Dream Boy is making some sort of brunch for us.
I have oodles and oodles and oodles of pics to edit -- baby, wedding, senior trip....
Good day to stay inside and try to get caught up!

P::52 Picnic

The weather here has not been ideal for a picnic.
So while searching my brain and then my photos I came across this shot I took on our senior trip last weekend.
We spend all day Saturday in Busch Gardens every year.
The kids' love it.
I love it.
When we return, we provide dinner for the kids.
Pizza Hut to be precise.
I send some of the boys' down to the restaurant which is right in front of our hotel and they bring back the goods.
We spread out the pizza's on my bed and have a "picnic" in my hotel room.
Nineteen pizza's + 41 kids + 5 chaperones = 1 giant picnic!

Monday Nite Cap

Hey everyone!
Sorry I wasn't here for coffee this morning - I was on a bus from heading home from Florida.
One of my kids' confiscated my camera and took this shot.
We ended up home about 2 hours early today.  The bus company said it was a 24 hour ride, but we cut about 2 hours off on the way down & again on the way home.
1.  I spent my weekend with 41 high school seniors.
2.  On a bus.
3.  For 4 1/2 days.
4.  We ate lots & lots of junk food.
5.  We watched lots of movies.
6.  I listened to my iPod ---- a lot.
7.  I took 343 pictures.
8.  I rode 5 different roller coasters.
9.  I got caught in 4 different thunderstorms.
10.  I laughed.....a lot!
11.  I helped make some great memories.
12.  Those memories are the reason I do this trip every year because I know how much it means to them when it's over.
13.  I love this trip!
14.  I have to go back to school tomorrow.
15.  I need to go to bed early tonite so I can face school tomorrow.
16.  I have the best hubby - he supports me every year when I go on this trip.
17.  Then he listens to me when I get home & tell him about everything that happened.
18.  He cooks me dinner.
19.  That's why I call him Dream Boy.
So, here is a picture of my and my 41 kids!
Did I tell you how much fun I had with them????

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

I'm in Florida this weekend with 41 high school seniors.
It's a yearly tradition.
I'm tired, I'm happy and I'm ready to go home.
But not until after we spend the day at the watermark!
I did manage to get my shots in this week - not my best, but at least I was still able to accomplish it!
So-----here are my interpretations:

What's more yellow than Ronald McDonald?

Something That Makes You Smile
Every day when I come home from school - this face is in the window waiting for me.
Libbi the Wonder Dog always brings a smile to my face.

Ancient or Antique
I've been coming to Florida with my seniors since 2003 - I swear these gators have been in Busch Gardens for.ever.  They are what I'd call Ancient!

The kids' LOVE playing in the pool!  Even though we were dodging rain storms off & on - they managed to get some time.

In The Sun
I pulled this from my archives from my February trip to Florida.
Love the sun reflecting on the waves.

We Made It!

This was most of them at 2:30 this morning when we stopped at a rest area.  Most of them had been sleeping for a few hours.
We jumped back on the bus & hit it hard for another 2 hours before we had to stop to change drivers.
At 1:30 this afternoon - 2 hours ahead of schedule, we pulled up the GIANT McDonald's just down the road from our hotel.  We stopped there to kill an hour as our rooms weren't going to be ready until 3pm.
We then boarded the bus ..... again ...and headed to our hotel where we've been ever since.
We are taking off again at 7:15pm for dinner and games and fun at Dave & Buster's.
Tomorrow we are headed to Tampa to play & ride roller coasters at Busch Gardens.
We return tomorrow night to Orlando and head into the main event:::::Grad Bash at Universal Studios.
Time to go......

Life and P::52--Book

Okay - so this week's P52 shot is "book".
This is what is currently on my nightstand.
A simple little read called "Crossroads Bay" - a coworker loaned it to me.
"Still Alice" - recommended to me by a good blogging friend, Holly.
I'm taking this one on the bus with me this weekend.
"Mistaken Identity" - another loan from another coworker.
This has been my life for the past 4 days.
Packing & getting ready for our road trip to Florida with 41 high school seniors.
Yep - we did it!
We raised enough funds to charter a bus AND buy lots of food and prizes and party bag stuff.
We are leaving immediately after school today.
Libbi the Wonder Dog is wondering how long I'll be gone - she hates when my suitcase comes out.  She really hates when my swimsuit comes out & goes into the suitcase and she's not going with me to the water's edge!
I may be back over the weekend to fill you in on what's happening ...... and I may not.
Just pray for us for a safe trip, a fun trip and a dry trip - rain is predicted in Florida this weekend.

11.  We leave this Thursday after school for Florida - for the senior trip.

I have a crazy, busy week ahead of me as I finalize details for our 4 day senior trip this weekend.  The kids' are getting excited & I am too.
It's going to be a real adventure this year - I have games planned & I'm currently working on a "rap" of sorts to familiarize them with the escape routes on the bus and all that jazz.  You know, like they do on airplanes with seat belts & oxygen masks & emergency exits?
Well - gotta go.  Dang bell is gonna ring & I haven't even packed my lunch yet!!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Well, I'm a little late to the party (for me anyways) but I'm here!
I had the ideas in my head all week, but wasn't able to implement them until a few hours ago.
Without further interpretations for this week's hunt!

A simple little word with a huge meaning to me.

The wood grain on my current night stand table.

Dream Boy's FAVORITE mode of transportation!

One of my favorite gifts - a hand stitched quote by Lizette

Libbi the Wonder Dog playing with her favorite soccer ball stopped long enough to watch the passing bubbles!

So - there you have it.  Want to see more?  Head on over to

P::52 Party

What a crazy, busy weekend we had.
I shot my first ever wedding on Saturday night and then we had family over for Easter dinner.  There were 11 of us total.
My little sister and her family, my family including our girls and one of my nephews.  My older sister was in Florida and their younger son is away at college, so my older nephew joined us all for dinner.
It was a wonderful day & a scrumptious dinner.
I had every intention of taking pics on Sunday, but I think I was just plum worn out from the wedding on Saturday night & it never came out of the bag.
So going through my wedding shots all week and working on editing, I decided this would be my "Party" shot for this week's P52 prompt.
It's the "wedding party" and family!
I had seen this idea somewhere & had pinned it a long time ago.  I was so excited when I found a way to pull this off!
I hope they like it too!

Tutorial Tuesday::Double Exposures

I don't know how or when exactly I stumbled upon Ashley Sisk's blog, but I am glad I did.
Because of her I am now doing Scavenger Hunt Sunday's - it makes me think beyond the norm and it makes me use my camera on a weekly, if not daily basis.
Also, I love her Tuesday Tutorials.
As most of you know, Dream Boy and Son #2 gave me PhotoShop Elements 10 for Christmas.  I have scoured many times over different tutorials since then & 2 of my favorites are Ashley's and Digital Goulash over on YouTube.
This week's tutorial at Ashley's is how to make a double exposure.
I've only just begun to work through & edit the 900+ photos I took at the wedding last weekend, but I found 2 shots that I wanted to try this effect on.
A shot of the flowers on the arch
And a shot of the bride & her reflection.
Following the step by step instructions on Ashley's site, I came up with this::
I'm kinda liking how this turned out!
You should head over to Ashley's site & check it out for yourself.

Monday Morning Coffee

Good morning!
I'm back to my routine today - spring break is over & it's back to school.
I told Dream Boy the other day that I needed to go back to rest up from my week off!
I'm tired.....and sore....but it's all good.
1.  We're supposed to get cold enough tonite that the word S*#@ is back in our forecast.
2.  Yuck.
3.  My whole family was home for Easter Dinner yesterday.
4.  That included both son's, both of their girls, my little sister & her family & one of my nephews.
5.  Big sister & bro are in Flo-rida right now & little nephew is still at school in Ohio.
6.  I got through the wedding shoot on Saturday - phew!
7.  I'm having trouble sleeping because my mind keeps kicking in gear, "you should have done this, you should have done that"
8.  Ugh.
9.  I have over 900 photos to edit!
10.  I'm tired already.
11.  I need coffee.
12.  Lots of it.
Well, I'm off to school now - after I pack my lunch!
Have a splendid Monday!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

After having spring break this past week and working hard on making over our bedroom, I still managed to get my shots in for this week's prompts.
Without further ado.....

There's nothing like a new color and coat of paint to make things feel new!

New Baby/New Life
So sweet.

He gave His life so that I might have everlasting life.

There's nothing better than the smell of roses.

The tips of the Redbuds are such a pretty pink!

Isn't their happiness obvious?

Want to see more interpretations?  Head over to Ramblings & Photos by Ashley Sisk and check them out.  It's always fun to look at.

Happy Easter everyone - I hope your are enjoying a beautiful day wherever you may be.

Kinda Sorta Finished

It's been a long week filled with lots of hard work.
Work that made me feel good.
Work that gave me a sense of accomplishment.
Work that I've wanted to do for a long time and finally made the time.
While I still have some finishing touches I want to do - they'll come soon enough.
But for now I am very happy with the finished product in my bedroom.
I spent yesterday painting, yes, painting curtains!
I saw this idea somewhere forever ago.  I bought a painter's canvas at the Big Box Store for SEVEN bucks!  Yes, SEVEN.  It was normally eleven, but this one was in a bag - obviously returned for some reason, so I talked the price down to SEVEN bucks.
I cut it into 4 separate sections and hemmed up the raw edges, putting in a rod pocket at the top.
Then I taped off my 12" sections and pulled out my paint roller.
I used the Garden Urn that was on my one solid wall as my color.
I also had bought sheers and ended up being able to cut them in half because they were so long & making what I needed out of two panels, rather than the 4 I bought.  So I get to take 2 back - BONUS!
I know they're a little shorter than the panels, but I think they fit & look just fine.
Because our windows are 8 1/2 feet wide, Dream Boy & I had to custom make our curtain rods.  We bought 1/2" conduit and then drawer pulls for the end caps.
When he got home from work, I had our room put back together and he was in awe.
Awwwwwwww - how sweet!
And look ----------NO more pink closet!!!
I debated painting the closet doors - but they really need to be replaced, so I didn't bother.
The little dresser is just a temporary fix right now.  We've looked at a couple different closet organizers, but couldn't make our mind up - so we put things back to what they were & the dresser is just until we can come up with a better solution.
Our bedroom isn't real big, so it's nice to have all our "storage" in the closet - it saves a lot of space.
So, what do you think?
Now I'm off for the rest of the day - I'm shooting my first wedding ever today.
Didn't sleep much last night because the ideas were rolling through my head!
Happy Easter everyone!

Friday, April 6, 2012

I finished the painting yesterday around noon!!!

You can tell Libbi the Wonder Dog is SO excited too!
Now today - it's finishing the curtains and putting the room back together.
So - so happy with the colors and how it is all coming together.
Oh - & you like my cool animated photo???  Something else I learned to make this week.

P::52 Treasure

It's been a fulfilling week for me.
I'm working on my bedroom if you haven't been following along & I'm loving how it's turning out.  Just the final touches on my painting today & I can start moving things back in.
Then I get to make my window treatments & hopefully get some new bedding to complete the look!
But alas, it's Thursday.  That means it's P::52 Photo Challenge Day.
This week's prompt was
Last weekend as I was wandering the yard with my camera I came across this:
a TREASURE trove of walnut shells left behind by the busy squirrels!
I'm off now to finish up my painting!

So far.....

I have two coats all the way around the room.  I have one coat in the closet. All that's left to do is tape off the trim & get that painted & another coat (of paint) in the closet.
While painting the brown, which is technically called Garden Urn, I took a detour:
Our hallway & living room are painted the lighter tan on the left.  Because the chair is in the way - you can't see the giant knicks out of the paint at the bottom of the wall.  Dream Boy has wanted to touch it up for quite some time, but we used what paint we had left to paint the entry way to my parents home 6 years ago.  We forgot to write down the color......oops!
So I started looking at my Garden Urn & decided it was a nice contrast to the already tan walls & took a little detour.
Then I got back to business and started with the 2nd color in my bedroom......Sanibel Gray.  It's a very soft blue - it paints on almost white!  When Dream Boy came home I had one coat on the walls & was working in the closet.  He thought I'd gone color blind!
"I thought you were painting it blue?  Oh, you still have to cut around the edges don't you?"
No, silly boy.  The edges are already cut & are drying - THAT'S what color the paint is when it dries.  Later last night he finally saw the difference.
It's magic.
Here is the room so far:
The trim is called "Sailcloth" & it's the palest of ivories.
I'll be lunching with some dear friends today, but before I go, I'm going to tape off the trim so it's ready to go when I get home.
As for window treatments.  I have a plan - but I'm a little stuck on how long.  My plan is to make floor length curtains for the ends of the windows for show.  I don't need them wide enough to close & cover all the windows - they are tremendously long & Dream Boy & I have to make custom rods!
In between I would like to hang shear curtains - should I make them the same length or can I get away with those being the same size of the windows?
In my mind having them shorter works - but I need your final opinion(s) to help make my mind up!
Be back soon~~~~~~~

So Those "No Plans" I Had For This Week?

I didn't have plans, but I had ideas -- remember?
If you had coffee with me yesterday, then I'm sure you do.
One of my ideas has come to fruition.  I'm redoing our bedroom.
It has been years since we painted.  I've had colors picked out for almost 2 years now & I finally bit the bullet yesterday & started in.
I cleaned out my drawers & closet & ended up donating 3 large bags to Goodwill.
Then I move every last thing out of our room.
Here's the before shots:
Can it get any more boring?  Everything is so white!
Like that lovely dresser in my closet?  That was my mom & dad's dresser & they got married in 1954!  It has seen better days.....
All our furniture are pieces of this & that, which I really don't mind.  I'm just tired of the white walls.
And the faded curtains.
And the blank walls.
So, I got busy and emptied it out...
Like that purple closet?  We've never painted it before - can't believe I'm admitting that.
The carpet needs to be replaced, but that is a later project.
I'll be back with today's progress later!
